Metropolitan Areas and Urban Areas

Metropolitan and urban areas are also known as towns and cities, and in general just have more human created structures than other areas. Most of the United States population actually lives in a metropolitan or urban area as compared to suburbs and rural areas. You are more likely to find a good paying job if you decide to relocate to an urban area because companies tend to build in urban areas. The down side though is that you will be paying a great deal for a home and for your utilities in an urban area. You will also find that most homes in an urban area are built very close to one another so you do not usually have a big yard. Homes tend to cost more in an urban area, but that does not mean that the homes are large by any means because most are quite small. Most people do not have a vehicle when they live in an urban area because parking is scarce and there is always some form of cheap public transportation all around you. If you move to an urban area you do not have to worry about how close the local grocery store is or any other type of activity you like to do because they are all over the city.

You also have to keep in mind that if you were to relocate to an urban area there is more crime than you may be use to. All types of crime both major and minor crimes increase when you move to an urban area as compared to the suburbs and rural areas. If you have children then you also need to keep in mind what types of schools your children will be attending. Many people who live in urban areas tend to send their children to private schools because they do not believe the local public schools are safe or educational. But if you can not afford a private school you will want to do a little research on the local public schools to find the best possible public school to send your children to.
